An MBE model of the teaching brain: Towards a more comprehensive approach for educating with “both” brains in mind
Currently teacher practice is measured through the lens of student learning. Unfortunately student achievement is measured by standardized exams presenting a linear view of static achievement. Therefore our current measure of teacher quality, based on student achievement, is also limited. Mind, Brain and Education’s use of Dynamic Systems Theory offers more appropriate tools for measuring the complex development of learning. Utilizing this framework, I am developing a model of the teaching brain to explore more effectively the interaction between teaching and learning.
