Slippery slopes. How to favor a good encounter between education and the sciences of the mind-brain
Until quite recently, cognitive science steered clear of education, while the sciences of education tended to ignore cognitive science. Things have changed over the last few years, and there is now quite a lot of interaction between the two fields. How to favor a good encounter? Are there risks? Understanding the risks helps resisting misunderstanding and misuses. Not only knowledge must be right, but relevant and usable for both teachers and learners. The production of this kind of knowledge is likely to require a closer collaboration between scientists and educators, as well as a greater attention to empirical evidence and the involvement of social sciences.
